What types of incontinence are treated at Posh Body Wellness?
With Emsella, we can treat different types of incontinence for women and men:
- Stress incontinence: Involuntary urine leakage in relationship to physical activities.
- Urge incontinence: Sudden, intense urge to urinate with urine leakage.
- Mixed continence: Symptoms of both stress and urge incontinence.
What are the common signs of urinary incontinence?
- You feel the urge to go to the bathroom often.
- You experience urine leaks when you engage in strenuous activities.
Millions of women suffer from urinary incontinence affecting their pelvic health. According to the Mayo Clinic Health System, 50% of adult women suffer from urine continence, and up to 75% of women over 65 report urine leakage.
The pelvic floor are the bowl-shaped muscles in the pelvic area that support the uterus, bladder and bowels.
Deconditioning of the pelvic floor muscles can lead to loss of bladder control and the involuntary leakage of urine.
While a number of factors affecting the pelvic floor muscles can cause female urinary incontinence (pregnancy, childbirth, menopause), only a proper treatment plan based on your individual symptoms can treat a pelvic floor dysfunction.
How does Emsella treat my incontinence problem?
In order to treat incontinence, you need to exercise all the deep muscles of your pelvic floor, the bowl-shaped muscles in the pelvic area that support pelvic organs. This manual form of physical training is commonly referred as Kegel exercises. Strengthening the muscles around your bladder can help improve or prevent urine leakage.
We use a non-surgical and painless treatment called Emsella to rehabilitate weak pelvic floor muscles and restore neuromuscular control.
You sit on the Emsella chair for less than 30 minutes per treatment. Our patients often take the time to relax, read a book or enjoy some quiet time for themselves.
As a non-invasive treatment option, it requires no downtime. So as soon as you’re finished, you can continue with your regular day-to-day routine.
Many patients report improved results in as little as one treatment. However, we usually recommend a three-week session plan with treatments occurring twice a week (6 treatments).
Emsella treatments use High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to simulate Kegel exercises. All you do is sit fully clothed on the Emsella chair, relax, and let the machine do the rest. After a 28 minute session you will have received the equivalent of 12,000 kegel exercises to exercise your bladder and pelvic floor muscles.
Sound simple? It is! You don’t have to learn how to do Kegels yourself, or worry about making mistakes. Emsella does the work for you correctly every time!
Strengthen your pelvic floor with Emsella treatments
Emsella is FDA-cleared to treat male and female urinary incontinence by rehabilitating weak pelvic floor muscles and restoring neuromuscular control. This breakthrough treatment uses advanced HIFEM (High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) energy to create profound muscle contractions of the entire pelvic floor.
All you need to do is sit, relax, and let Emsella do the rest.
What do patients think of Emsella?
Results and patient experience may vary, but overall Emsella showed consistency in improving bladder control and reducing urinary incontinence. Scientific research shows that 95% of treated patients have reported significant improvement in their quality of life.
I don’t know how it works... but it does. I don’t have dribbles anymore and when you are out in public. I can make it to the bathroom without dribbles If that’s what you wanna call it.
I sneeze, I can jump rope, I run... I can just do all kinds of exercise and competitions and I can now do them with a lot more confidence than I could before It’s... freeing, very freeing, to be able to just do what you want to do again.
Before, I was getting up 4 - 5 times a night to go to a bathroom. It seems like it ́s still improving. Even in past few weeks some nights I have not had to get up at all. And It’s awesome.
What it does is it kind of takes the place of doing Kegels, for which a lot of people don’t have the time or the energy ... It’s just weird and it ́s very uncomfortable to try to do them ... and the chair does it for you and it works miracles. it ́s wonderful!
